Alcossebre :: Welcome to Paradise

{ Where's my NFL? }

We arrived in Alcossebre on Saturday, checked in and took it easy.  Saturday was the earliest we woke up in Spain so we could catch our train.  The weather wasn't specktacular.  We made it out for dinner, picked up groceries and drank wine.

On Sunday we pretty much figured our perfect (3 for 3) streak of watching NFL was going to come to an end.  Alcossebre is a resort town, and it is dead.  Most places are boarded up for the season.  A few families and some retirees make up the current tourist population.  For the heck of it I ran a quick Google search a local American bar, sure enough there is one named Cheers.  Sweet.  Google showed us where to go and we were off.  But, sometimes Google is dumber than I am, and it told us to go up to the left where the tracks do a little loop.  We walked around the point Google told us, which was pretty much a dirt field.  Sigh.  Fuck it dude, let's go bowling.  Wait, no bowling either?  Ok, cervesa.

Our waiter ended up being an English chap, so we inquired about Cheers.  He pointed us in the right direction and we were off after enjoying our beer in a responsible manner.

Cheers was run by locals, which menas they don't speak the English, but they did have the Satalite.  After asking nicely while displaying our most dumbfounded American grin the waitress switched the chanel over for us.  Cincinatti versus Cleveland?  Whoever selected this game should be fired.  I kindly asked the waitress to show the alternate game, hmm, San Francisco at New Orleans.  Es bueno, but no es muy bueno.  As for the food, muy bueno.

Next game Washington Redskinas at the Dallas Cowboys.  Matchup of the week in my opinion.  We got to watch until mid-second quarter before being ushered out so they could close.

Overall, success!

The rest of the week has been equally awesome.  Tinker on work in the morning, free from distrctions.  Take a 3 hour break in the afternoon.  Work a little more, and then sign off once my clients start emailing me.  (If you're a client, I'm kidding, I never stop working.)
